Workshop using primer lenses

In this workshop one of our teachers showed us the difference between the zoom lenses that we used last year for our opening title sequence compared to the primer lenses which we will be using for our music videos instead of the zoom lenses. The main difference between the two lenses is that the primer lenses can't zoom in and out like the zoom lenses but they do have a better quality video that you wouldn't be able to get with the zoom lenses. This is better because we can still get close up shots of the band or artist with a better quality of video and the only downside to the prime lenses is the fact that we have to keep on taking them on and off to get different shots but in the grand scheme of things that isn't much of a problem.

Then our teacher went on to talk about the fact that when people normally try and set up a band for a camera shot they normally go for the 'traditional' set up of having the band in the diamond sort of formation and he tried to get us to position the band in to a position that was different and unique to the music video. It is also good for creating a more interesting shot when we do start shooting our music videos so the audience don't get bored f watching our video.
